Hypocrisy
Sen. Norm Coleman (R-Minn.) says of Sen. Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.):
“The chairman of the Democratic Senate campaign committee… is sucking the oxygen out of that atmosphere of collegiality and constructive cooperation by trying to make a partisan issue of something that is being handled by a special counsel today… Let’s get away from the gotcha politics of Washington today.”
How typically bogus of a Republican to paint the Democratic opposition as partisan when Karl “I didn’t do it” Rove’s tactics are being questioned. I don’t have the data at hand, but I’ll bet a dollar that this twerp was active in the partisan lynching of Bill Clinton, the partisan attacks on the last two Democratic candidates for president, and the partisan bickering for Mr. Moustache, John Bolton.
Schumer’s Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee fired back an hour later: “Norm Coleman is paying back his political patrons Karl Rove and George Bush today, picking up the hatchet for the White House and doing its dirty work.”
That’s how it is with the Neo-Fascist-Conservatives these days. A person has only one soul; once that’s been hocked, all you can do is get in line…

I hate to break it to you, but Coleman was still in Minnesota during the Clinton years. From his official website: “Norm Coleman was sworn in as a United States Senator on January 7, 2003.” So, no to your theory about his being part of the attacks on BillyJeff.
And, double-check what the NYT has said about the pseudo-scandal of the Plame “outing”, sometime. Your anti-Rovian conspiracy theory doesn’t hold water, especially in light of the multiple documents putting the lie to nearly all of Wilson’s claims.
Coleman is right about some members of Congress trying to usurp the role of the investigative special counsel, as well. If your boys and girls were so certain that Rove was guilty, they could sit back and let the counsel do its work, and criminal actions exposed by said counsel would completely embarrass the White House. As it stands, they’re only embarrassing themselves. What they’re doing right now smacks of desperation (c’mon — trying to impeach Rove?!? Where’s that famous separation of powers?), and it distracts them from the actual job Congress is supposed to be doing: GOVERNMENT WORK… you know, like advise and consent for the POTUS to replace a SCOTUS justice, reforming Social Security, securing our borders, cutting back on pork barrel spending, and other annoying stuff like that.
And, hold off on that “fascist” stuff. It just makes you look like a foaming loony winger. But I think you might be able to get away with calling Coleman a “neo-con”, if you want. He was a stolid Democrat until 1996 (once again from his official bio) : “Frustrated that the Democratic party he had been a part of from his youth had assumed the role of defenders of the status quo, he switched to the Republican party because he felt it held the best opportunity to bring about job growth, quality education and greater public safety. “

Dear Friend;
I speak from my heart, not my head - I’m sure you’ve noticed that. I go with the gut feelings, the voice inside that has yet to steer me wrong.
And I am a “foaming looney winger.” Deal with it. If we are lucky enough to have a future, BushCo will be seen as the scum they are. Be patient, it’ll take a while.
Time emough for you to decide how you like your crow cooked.

Look, if there, indeed, has been criminal activity going on in the WH, I’ll be right alongside you in screaming to throw the bums out. But right now, all anybody has is lame accusations, most of which even the goonass leftist brigade at the NYT had to recognize as bogus. And repeatedly raising false accusations will make it harder to get anybody to listen to you if and when the real thing comes along — or don’t you know the story of the boy who cried “wolf”?
Now, when you say you speak from the heart, I recognize that is a perfectly acceptable way to behave, but if that is your long-term choice, you have no room to play at intellectually arrogant when somebody opposes you, politically. You choose to argue the emotional over the rational, and, if the majority of your party continues to do the same, you will continue to lose ground from the crucial middle. and you will never see the corruption from the top cleaned out.
I know there are members of both parties who believe that if you throw enough mud, some of it will eventually stick, but the kind of nonsense that’s going on with your party’s leaders is alienating a lot of rational, sensible people down here in Jesusland. Can you really afford to lose any more seats?

“…you have no room to play at intellectually arrogant when somebody opposes you, politically.”
Apologies. Arrogance is based upon overwork, as well as the teduim of intellectual arguement. It was a un-Buddha moment. As for the dialogue, I think you are anjoying this more than I. I don’t wish to sully our freindship with pointless political bickering; pointless, as we two are quite the stubborn pair, no?
I started this blog (and the other) for freedom of expression, for release, hoping to reach out to people I can’t otherwise reach (yes, like minds, preferably). Instead it has become a venue which tests our relationship. I despair this outcome.
It is beyond reason to expect any reconcilliation can or need occur. What we have here is not fun for me. I wish it to end. Please. If my words offend you, still I must write them. The decision is yours to read them or not. Whatever you decide, I’ll remain your friend.

Norm Coleman is the person who became Senator from Minnesota in the November 2002 elections due to a mysterious “plane crash” on the behalf of his opponent (the same thing that happened to Senator Ashcroft’s opponent, strangely enough, but in Senator Ashcroft’s case it backfired and he lost to the dead man’s wife… I guess what this says is that if you’re a Democratic Senator, do not fly light planes).
Regarding the man who revealed the identity of a covert CIA agent (a fact which is not arguable), I am sorry that Mr. Leucanthemum decides to sling feces at the husband of the CIA agent, but not surprised. It is, after all, normal for monkeys to fling feces at those who threaten their alpha male and his pride of monkeys. And all that we are, after all, is just hopped-up monkeys with big foreheads that we rarely use, especially since the “educational system” that would tell us how to use those big foreheads was destroyed decades ago. Once you remember this, it is easy to forgive Mr. Leucanthemum for hooting and hollering and screaming and throwing feces. It is, after all, only what monkeys do, and he is to be pitied, not hated.

I’m sorry you’re no longer enjoying a reasoned debate with me. I’ll cease and desist. But, if you ever change your mind and want a good knock-down-drag-out, you know where to find me.
I’m off — and I’m leaving, too.
